Here are some important points that should be known about “Right To Work”. (Information collected from Union fliers and other sources) 1. Workers in “Right To Work states earn almost $5,900.00 less a year than in non-“Right To Work” states. 2. The percentage of American families without health insurance in “Right To Work states is 16.1%. That’s 20% higher than the 13.4% in non “Right To Work” states. 3. The maximum weekly “Workers Compensation” benefits are 25% less in “Right To Work” states. 4. In 2000 the infant mortality rates were 17% higher in “Right To Work” states. 5. The rate of work related fatalities is 41% higher in “Right To Work” states according to a 2006 AFL -CIO health and safety study. 6. In “Right To Work” states, poverty level is at 13.4% vs. 10.2% in non “Right To Work” states. That’s more than a 30+% difference. 7. In the 2005-2006 school year, “Right To Work” states spent $2,369 less per student, and paid their teachers $8,163 less. In “Right To Work” states, if someone hires in as a “Right To Work” employee, they will be treated the same as a Union worker, but won’t have to pay dues. This helps lead to busted Unions because non-paying members have to be represented in the same manner as dues paying members. This process can financially suck the lifeblood out of Union coffers, especially when “Right To Work” employees have an axe to grind with the Union or works in unison with the Management to that end. All in all, one must conclude that “Right To Work” actually means “The Right To Work For Less”, much less.
